Last week, our school proudly celebrated World Children’s Rights Day: a meaningful moment when our community came together to recognise and promote the rights, voices, and well-being of children everywhere. It was a day dedicated to kindness, fairness, and empowering students to understand that their thoughts and actions matter.

This year’s theme, “My Day, My Rights” invited students to reflect on the rights that are most important to them. To honour this, we created a beautiful collaborative mural in the PYP Welcome Area. Each child contributed a painted handprint to the mural, symbolising their unique voice and place in our community. On their handprint, students wrote a children’s right they believe in, from the right to play and learn to the right to feel safe and cared for.

Many families took time to talk at home about the rights their children value, and this support helped students feel confident and thoughtful when adding their handprints to our display.

We are proud of the meaningful conversations, creativity, and awareness that grew from this celebration. The mural now stands outside the Outlook, as a colourful reminder of the importance of children’s rights and the powerful messages our students shared.
