Happy Holidays from the Head of MYP, Ms. Manso 682 1330 School Office

Dear Families,

As we come to the end of the term, we would like to take a moment to reflect on what has been a truly enriching and inspiring period for our MYP community, and to thank you for your continued support.

The celebrations of our first two overarching MYP themes have been a great success. On October 10th, Mental Health Day, students explored habits that can positively or negatively impact mental health during mentor time and then expressed their reflections creatively by decorating the glass windows in the MYP Outlook.

In preparation for December 10th, Human Rights Day, we began our journey with an opening assembly led by Ms Fernanda Hopenhyam, a UN Human Rights expert and member of the Business Working Group. This was followed by meaningful classwork, primarily in English and Italian lessons, and culminated in a Human Rights celebration where students showcased their learning and took part in our first-ever public debate competition. During the debates, students strengthened their literacy and oracy skills while presenting arguments for and against the right to freedom of expression and the right to public protest.

We are already looking ahead with excitement to our next events next term: Home Language Day celebrations in February and Safer Internet events in March.

We are also delighted to see how our students’ leadership skills continue to grow. This is evident not only in lessons and group projects, but also through key roles within the student community, such as class representatives, House captains, ambassadors, school photographers, the environmental team, and the wellbeing circle. These opportunities allow students to explore responsibility, service, and initiative, while developing confidence, collaboration skills, and a sense of purpose within the school community.

Our flagship programmes continue to thrive. In MYP4, Acceleration Lab teams have been developing business ideas, conducting market research, and recently exploring how to strengthen their online presence through our latest Ignition Lab talk with an expert in the field. In Human+, our AI curriculum, students are becoming true architects of their own learning, exploring how AI can support creativity, problem-solving, and coding. In the MYP, the unthinkable truly is the limit.

As we close this term, on behalf of the entire MYP team, we would like to wish you and your families a joyful, restful, and well-deserved holiday season. We are incredibly proud of our students’ growth, curiosity, and resilience, and deeply grateful for the trust and partnership we share with you as families. We very much look forward to continuing our collaboration in the new year, building on the strong foundations already in place and working together to ensure that every student continues to feel supported, challenged, and inspired in their learning journey.

Warmest holiday wishes,
Alba Manso
On behalf of the MYP Team
