What does life really look like for our boarders once the school day ends?
For many parents, choosing boarding is about much more than academics. You want to know that your child is safe, supported, happy, active and surrounded by people who genuinely care about their development.

At H-Farm, boarding is about creating a community where students can belong, grow, have fun and thrive — both inside and outside the classroom.

So, I thought I would share a few things you may not know about boarding life…

Did you know… we offer flexible boarding?
We understand that every family is different and that boarding arrangements need to work for individual circumstances.

That’s why we offer flexi boarding to day student, giving families the option to access boarding on a more flexible basis, subject to availability via admissions.

Whether students need additional support during a particularly busy period or families are looking for greater flexibility, our aim is to make boarding work for as many families as possible.

Did you know… we offer sport every day after school?
Our boarders have the opportunity to get active every single day with a range of sporting activities after school.

Whether they are passionate about sport or simply looking for a way to unwind after lessons, there are regular opportunities to stay active, socialise with friends and enjoy some well-earned time away from their studies in both supervised structured sessions or just playing socially.

Did you know… every boarder has their own allocated mentor?
Every boarder has an allocated mentor within the boarding team who provides an additional layer of support throughout their time with us.

Having a trusted adult they know they can turn to means that students have someone who can listen, guide and encourage them — helping them navigate both the challenges and successes of school and boarding life.

Did you know… all our Heads of House are Level 5 Designated Safeguarding Lead trained?
The safety and wellbeing of our students is always our highest priority.

All of our Heads of House are Level 5 Designated Safeguarding Lead trained, providing our boarding community with highly trained staff who understand the importance of safeguarding and student welfare.

This expertise adds another important layer of protection, support and reassurance for both our students and their families.

Did you know… every year group has dedicated supervised study?
Boarding provides students with an environment where they can focus on their academic work while also receiving the support they need.

We provide dedicated supervised study for all year groups, with students able to make use of our Library, MYP and DP buildings.

This gives boarders access to appropriate spaces and resources to complete homework, revise, read and prepare for assessments — while benefiting from a structured and supportive environment.

Did you know… we offer trips every Friday, Saturday and Sunday?
There is always something happening at the weekend!

Our boarders have the opportunity to take part in trips and activities every Friday, Saturday and Sunday, giving them the chance to explore, experience new places, try new things and, most importantly, make memories with their friends. This week we head off Canoeing and Shopping, with next week we visit Treviso Rugby to take in a game!

Boarding isn’t just about where students sleep — it’s about the experiences they have along the way.

Did you know… boarders can talk directly with the Head of Boarding every Friday?
We believe that student voice matters.

Every Friday, boarders have the opportunity to sit down and talk with the Head of Boarding. This provides a regular opportunity for students to share their thoughts, ask questions, raise concerns, suggest ideas or simply have a conversation over a cup of tea!

It’s another way we make sure our boarders feel listened to and valued.

Did you know… our Heads of House meet Heads of Programmes every week?
Academic support doesn’t stop when the school day ends.

Every week, our Heads of House meet with Heads of Programmes to discuss our boarders’ academic progress and identify where additional support may be needed.

This regular communication helps ensure that the boarding and academic teams work together, giving students the support and encouragement they need to achieve their potential.

Did you know… every boarder has access to our Wellbeing Team?
Student wellbeing is at the heart of our boarding community.

All boarders have access to our dedicated Wellbeing Team, who are currently running weekly workshops specifically for boarders.

With a range of topics being explored, these workshops provide students with opportunities to talk, learn, reflect and develop the skills they need to look after their wellbeing.

Did you know… our boarding team brings an extra dimension to student life?
One of the things that makes our boarding community special is the experience, skills and interests of the people who support our students every day.

Our boarding team brings a wealth of experiences from different backgrounds, helping to broaden the opportunities and perspectives available to our boarders.

For example, Mr Tony Al-Moussa played football for the Syrian National Team, bringing a wealth of sporting experience and an inspiring perspective on high-level football.

Miss Rachel Stewart and Mr Seb Dunleavy both previously worked at Beau Soleil School in Switzerland before joining us, bringing valuable international boarding experience to our community.

And there is even more to come. Miss Sherish Shiraz will shortly be starting our new Duke of Edinburgh outdoor education programme, creating exciting new opportunities for students to develop independence, resilience, teamwork and practical outdoor skills.

These individual experiences and passions add another dimension to boarding life and help us provide students with opportunities that go far beyond the classroom.

So, what does all this mean for parents?

It means that boarding is about so much more than providing students with a place to stay.

It is about creating a safe, supportive, active and engaging community where every student has people around them who know them, listen to them and want to see them succeed.

From daily sport and weekend trips to flexi boarding, mentoring, safeguarding, supervised study, academic support and dedicated wellbeing provision, we are continually looking for ways to make the boarding experience the very best it can be.

And, importantly, our boarding team brings its own wealth of experiences, expertise and passions to help students discover new interests and opportunities.

Because great boarding isn’t just about where students live — it’s about how they grow, connect, learn and thrive.

And now hopefully you know a little more about what happens beyond the school day!
