Dear M3 Parents,
From mid-November, our M3 students will begin a dedicated preparation path for the Italian Esame di Terza Media. This programme is designed to guide students carefully through every step of the process, ensuring they feel confident, fully supported, and well-prepared.
Next Wednesday, October 7th, at 13:00 we will hold an online meeting to explain the structure of the Italian State School Final Exam (Esame di Terza Media).
You can join the meeting using this link.
Passcode: MB6HP7dS
After the meeting, we will share a form with you to express your interest in the Esame di Terza Media. The deadline for submitting the form will be October 12th. Registering for this preparation implies that students will sit both our internal assessment and the official state examinations.
Structure of the Examination
The Esame di Terza Media consists of three written examinations and an oral presentation:
Italian: A written examination where students can choose between three options: a narrative text (testo narrativo), an argumentative essay (testo argomentativo), or a textual analysis (analisi del testo).
Mathematics: A written examination focusing on core mathematical concepts and problem-solving.
Foreign Languages: A combined written examination covering two foreign languages—English alongside French, German, or Spanish, depending on the language studied by the student.
Oral Examination: A 30–35 minute session in total. Students will spend the first 10–15 minutes presenting a cross-curricular topic of their choice, followed by 15–20 minutes of questions from the examination board. The presentation will reflect links to the academic curriculum, which will be shared with the host schools in advance.
All examinations will take place at local public schools with which we have built strong, regular partnerships over many years.
How We Will Prepare Our Students
To ensure full preparation without overwhelming the students’ regular timetable:
Weekly Sessions: Starting in mid-November and running until the end of the academic year, students will attend a weekly Civic Education and Exam Preparation lesson with Mr. Ramagli during one of their lunch breaks.
Curriculum Alignment & IB Approach: Over recent years, our curriculum has been carefully adjusted to ensure full alignment with the requirements and standards expected by the Italian public school system. Crucially, this is achieved while fully maintaining our IB teaching methodology and inquiry-based approach throughout M3.
We look forward to guiding and supporting our M3 students through this important milestone with care and encouragement. Further details regarding registration deadlines and logistics will follow shortly.
Warm regards,
Mr. Ramagli
