At H-FARM International School, we believe that curiosity, creativity, and innovation should be nurtured from an early age. This is why we are proud to present TEENS IN STEAM, a two-day event dedicated to inspiring young minds and celebrating the world of STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics).

Building on the great success of last year’s Women in STEM, this second edition expands its reach and welcomes both girls and boys, creating an inclusive space where all students can explore their interests and imagine their future in STEM fields.

Friday, May 22 – Inspirational Talk

The event opens with a morning career talk where women working in STEM will share their professional journeys, challenges, and achievements. Meeting real role models and hearing authentic stories can be a powerful source of inspiration—helping students realize that a future in STEM is achievable and within reach.

Saturday, May 23 – Learn by Doing

Saturday is all about fun, hands-on STEAM workshops designed for students aged 10 to 14. Through engaging and interactive activities, participants will experiment, create, and learn by doing—the most effective way to spark curiosity and build a lasting passion for science and technology.

Join us for a parent workshop on helping your child navigate the online world safely and responsibly. We’ll explore key principles of digital citizenship, including managing screen time, understanding online privacy, preventing cyberbullying and promoting responsible tech use at home. Gain valuable tools and strategies to support your child’s positive and balanced digital habits in today’s connected world.

Assessment in the PYP is more than tests and grades, it’s about continuous monitoring and feedback. In this workshop, parents will explore how formative assessment helps teachers track progress, identify needs, and support student growth every day.

This session will explore how bullying can present in different forms, including social, verbal, and online behaviors. Together, we will look at how to recognize warning signs in young people, reflect on the developmental challenges of this age group, and discuss how these can impact relationships and behavior.

Parents will leave with practical strategies to support their child’s emotional well-being, encourage open communication, and build resilience. We will also highlight the importance of a strong partnership between schools and families in creating a safe, respectful, and inclusive environment for all students.

We are entering what many are beginning to call “The Fourth Science”—a new era in which artificial intelligence, data, and technological advancement are accelerating the pace of discovery across all fields of knowledge. This shift is not confined to science alone; it is transforming business, society, and the way we understand the world itself. In this context, it becomes worth asking a more fundamental question: what do we still consider impossible? As human understanding increasingly combines with AI and technological progress, the boundaries of what we once thought unattainable are being redefined—perhaps limited only by the laws of physics. This invites us to reflect: what seems impossible today, and what might happen if it no longer is? Learning to think beyond conventional limits will be one of the most important skills in navigating this new era.

For those of you who were not able to attend the interesting presentation by PhD Angelica Marcello, we are pleased to share the slides from the event at this link.

We are pleased to invite families to a workshop titled “Supporting Healthy Digital Habits in Children”

The session will be delivered by Dr. Angelica Marcello, PhD, a behavioral anthropologist, who will guide families in exploring how children engage with smartphones and social media in today’s digital environment. During the workshop, we will discuss topics such as digital wellbeing, online safety, and practical strategies that families can use to support balanced and responsible technology use at home.

Our goal is to provide families with useful insights and tools to help children develop healthy and mindful digital habits. The event will be in presence in the MYP Music Room, and a link will also be provided for those who cannot be with us in person. 

We are looking forward to seeing many of you there!

Ms. Domenica Gallaraga, a former IB Diploma alumnus with firsthand experience of the DP journey, is available to support students individually. With a degree in Clinical and Educational Psychology, she combines professional expertise with personal insight, helping students plan their revision effectively, and strengthen their exam techniques.

All DP2 students have already received an email from Ms. Di Rocco with a booking link to arrange an appointment with Ms. Gallaraga. Encouraging students to reach out for support is an important way to help them stay focused, resilient, and confident as they prepare for their exams.

Bullying can impact both children’s well-being and learning. In this workshop, we will look at how to recognize the warning signs of bullying, both in children who may be targeted and those who may be engaging in it. Parents will gain strategies for supporting their child emotionally, building resilience, and collaborating with the school to ensure a safe and respectful environment for all students.

So far, students have attended an introductory assembly on the Diploma Programme, completed an orientation questionnaire, and had the opportunity to meet individually with a Valdo Academics consultant to explore their interests, strengths, and subject options in greater depth.

The next step will be an online Subject Fair, during which teachers from each department will briefly present their subjects, including course content, assessment structure, and key expectations. This event is intended to help students and families gain a clearer and more complete understanding of each option.

The session will be recorded, and the recording and materials will be shared through the school office notice. However, we strongly encourage live participation of both students and parents, as it will provide the most valuable opportunity to engage with the information presented.

Following the event, students will receive the subject selection form where they will complete their preliminary subject choice.

Kindly note that only students who are enrolled for the next academic year will be able to complete and submit the form.

Join us for a workshop that explains the PYP Exhibition, the culminating project of the IB Primary Years Programme.
Learn how this in-depth inquiry fosters student agency, collaboration, and critical thinking, and discover how you can support your child through the process. We’ll cover the purpose, structure, key dates, and expectations, giving you the tools to guide and encourage your child during this important milestone in their learning journey.

This will be a practical, hands-on session with strategies to use at home. You will get a chance to explore what a family language plan looks like in detail, and be given guidance on how to create one. The workshop will conclude with a round table discussion.

As part of the transition to DP1, the following key events will take place:

• 26-30 January: Students will complete the Valdo Academics Orientation Questionnaire to collect their preferences on subjects and areas of learning you are strong and interested in
• 01-14 February: Tutors from Valdo Academics will meet students and families individually to discuss your survey results. Meetings will be held online and individually, taking place during mentor time or lunch. You will receive an email with your survey results and the details about your meeting. We strongly encourage parents to participate.
• 27 February: On-line Subject fair for students and parents.
• 28 February-20 March: Students will select their subject choices by completing a Google Form after the meetings have taken place

We are going to hold a 2-hour workshop full of practical strategies where you will get a chance to explore what a family language plan looks like in detail, and given guidance on how to create one. There will be a round table discussion and questions will be collected in advance.
