A day dedicated to the Continuous improvement of teaching. This is how the school community resumed after the winter break: starting from the shared belief that everyday classroom practice is the most authentic foundation for educational research, reflective analysis and the continuous improvement of teaching.

On Wednesday January 7th, all teachers across the school took part in a full day dedicated to professional learning and development. It was a rich and collaborative experience, during which external experts, education professionals and our own teachers worked side by side, sharing best practice, ideas, research insights and evidence from their practice, fostering meaningful professional dialogue.

The day was led by Jenny McWalker, Head of the School professional learning Group at Nord Anglia Education, who guided the entire teaching staff through a structured, inclusive and practice-driven session. Every teacher had the opportunity to actively contribute, engaging in shared reflection and thoughtful analysis of their own teaching experience.

This work forms part of a broader and ongoing professional learning programme that our teachers access throughout the school year. Beginning the new term after the winter break with a full day dedicated to training was a deliberate choice and a clear signal of the importance the school places on professional development as a key driver of high-quality education.

During the session, teachers explored essential themes connected to high quality education: developing a shared understanding of what learning means; the value of professional collaboration; inclusion understood as a dynamic process rooted in equity and challenge; and the importance of inquiry-based cycles that engage teachers in collaborative learning.

Significant attention was also given to evidence-informed practice: creating supportive environments for professional learning, grounding teaching choices in data and evidence, and identifying clear indicators of impact. The day concluded with an action-oriented focus, identifying concrete steps to be implemented within the following weeks, alongside professional leadership habits to be strengthened—or reconsidered—over the longer term.

Professional learning, continuous development and sustained reflection on teaching practice are at the heart of the support the school provides for its educators. This commitment is further strengthened by the extensive learning opportunities available through Nord Anglia University, which our teachers can access on an ongoing basis.

For families, this represents a tangible reassurance: investing in teachers’ professional growth means enhancing, every day, the quality of learning experiences offered to students in the classroom.
