Fundraising Boat Tour to Preserve Venetian Heritage

Fundraising Boat Tour to Preserve Venetian Heritage 1900 1077 School Office

Dear Parents,

On the occasion of the Venice Carnival, we would like to bring to your attention a meaningful cultural and fundraising initiative that supports the preservation of Venice’s historic heritage. This activity is also part of a CAS project organised by one of our DP2 students, who is actively collaborating with the association to promote community engagement and cultural awareness.

The association SMSCC – Carpentieri e Calafati di Venezia is organising “Carnevale di Castello – Boat Tour in Castello”, a unique experience aboard traditional Venetian boats, designed to introduce participants to the history of the Castello district while supporting an important cause.

The initiative aims to raise funds for the restoration of a 19th-century boat and to help ensure the survival of one of the last five historic boatyards (squeri) still operating in Venice—essential places for safeguarding the city’s centuries-old craftsmanship and maritime traditions.

📍 Boarding point: Campiello de le Ancone (end of Via Garibaldi)
📅 Dates and times:

  • Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 February
(departures at 2:30 pm, 3:30 pm, and 4:30 pm)

By taking part, you will enjoy an authentic Venetian experience while actively contributing to the preservation of Venice’s cultural and artisanal heritage, helping to keep this historic boatyard accessible for future generations.
