On Monday 9 and Tuesday 10 November, all IB DP1 students will take the IBE Insight assessment during their core sessions.
What it is
IBE Insight is an online baseline assessment designed for IB Diploma students. Cambridge Insight, part of Cambridge University Press & Assessment, provides it. It measures each student’s general academic abilities at the start of the Diploma Programme. It does not test what they have studied in any particular subject.
How it works
It is done on a computer and takes about 50 minutes.
It has three sections: Vocabulary, Mathematics and Non-verbal reasoning (patterns, diagrams, speed and accuracy).
The test is adaptive, so questions get easier or harder depending on each student’s answers. This means every student is challenged at the right level.
Why we use it
The results give us an independent view of each student’s strengths and the areas where they may need support. Teachers use this as one source of information, together with their own judgement, to set targets and support each student. The results do not count towards any IB grade, and the test is not pass or fail.
No revision is needed. The most helpful thing your child can do is get a good night’s sleep and simply do their best on the day.
