Dear Parents,
As we approach the final part of the academic year, we would like to share with you the rationale, structure, and purpose of the MYP End-of-Year (EOY) assessments.
The main purpose of these assessments is to provide students with a meaningful opportunity to revisit, consolidate, and effectively revise the key concepts and skills covered throughout the year. This process supports long-term learning and helps students strengthen their understanding across subjects.
The EOY assessment window will take place between May 25th and June 12th. Within this period, time will also be allocated for any make-up assessments, in the event of student absence due to illness or other valid reasons.
The MYP Leadership Team will work closely with all teachers to ensure that the assessment schedule is carefully coordinated. As part of this process, no more than two assessments will be scheduled on the same day, allowing students to manage their workload in a balanced way.
Please note that Physical and Health Education (PHE) will not be formally assessed during this window. This decision has been made as we already have sufficient data to report on students’ progress in this subject. It also ensures that students have adequate time to remain active and manage their wellbeing during a particularly demanding academic period.
In the MYP, there is no fixed percentage of the final grade that is determined solely by end-of-year assessments. As per standard practice, teachers will consider all evidence of learning collected throughout the year and will evaluate overall trends in student performance when determining final grades.
We see this period as a valuable learning opportunity for our students, encouraging reflection, consolidation, and growth. We wish them all the very best as they prepare for and complete their assessments.
Kind regards,
Ms Manso and the MYP team
