MYP1 Educational Visit to Belluno – Castello di Zumelle 1280 720 School Office

Dear MYP1 Parents,

A leap back in time awaits our MYP1 students as they step into the fascinating world of the Middle Ages at Castello di Zumelle, in the province of Belluno.

Perched on a hill and surrounded by ancient walls and breathtaking landscapes, the castle offers far more than a simple historical visit: it provides a fully immersive Medieval Experience designed to bring history vividly to life. Throughout the day, students will not only learn about medieval society, but will actively experience it.

Guided by expert educators in authentic costume, students will explore the customs, social structures, and daily routines of the medieval world. They will discover what it meant to live as a knight, a noble, or a squire, understanding the values of loyalty, courage, and discipline that shaped that era. Wearing faithful reproductions of medieval garments, they will be introduced to the use of armor, sword and shield techniques, and even basic archery practice, always in a safe and supervised environment.

Beyond the martial aspects, the experience also highlights everyday medieval life: the organization of the castle, the roles within the feudal system, and the importance of craftsmanship and community. By combining storytelling, hands-on activities, and historical reconstruction, this journey allows students to connect classroom learning with physical engagement, curiosity, and imagination.

Surrounded by the authentic atmosphere of Zumelle, history will no longer feel distant or abstract, but tangible and memorable, an adventure that blends learning, teamwork, and discovery.
