MYP1 Science – The Reproductive System

MYP1 Science – The Reproductive System 1920 1080 School Office

Dear MYP1 parents,

Please see below a letter from Ms Bellio and Mr Iacco, MYP1 Science teachers.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are writing to inform you about the third unit your children will be studying in MYP1 Science. We will explore the Human Reproductive System from a scientific and age‑appropriate perspective.

Our approach will be purely biological and factual, helping students develop accurate vocabulary and a respectful understanding of their own bodies and health. The unit will focus on:

  • Changes in Puberty: The main physical and emotional changes that occur during adolescence.
  • Anatomy and Function: An introduction to the basic structures and roles of the ovaries, testes, and related organs.
  • Introduction to the Menstrual Cycle: A simple, scientific overview of what the menstrual cycle is and why it happens.

Please note that, at this MYP1 level, we will not address topics such as sexual activity, contraception, or sexually transmitted diseases. Our aim is to keep the content clear, respectful, and developmentally appropriate for this age group.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.

Thank you for your continued support.

Sincerely,

Ms Bellio & Mr Iacco
