MYP2 Educational Visit to Verona – Casa Shakespeare

MYP2 Educational Visit to Verona – Casa Shakespeare 1920 1080 School Office

Dear MYP2 Parents,

An evocative journey into the world of literature and theatre awaits our students in the timeless setting of Verona — the city that has inspired generations through the enduring story of Romeo and Juliet.

Walking through historic streets, courtyards, and hidden corners steeped in legend, students will take part in a guided theatrical tour led by professional actors in period costume. As scenes from Shakespeare’s masterpiece are performed in English at iconic locations, the boundary between stage and city will dissolve, allowing students to experience the play in the very atmosphere that shaped its imagination. Through this immersive encounter, they will explore character motivations, themes of conflict and reconciliation, and the expressive power of Shakespearean language in a vivid and memorable way.

The experience will continue at Teatro Satiro, where students will move from audience to performers during an interactive drama and language workshop. Guided by theatre professionals, they will experiment with voice, gesture, movement, and stage presence, discovering how meaning is conveyed beyond words. By collaborating in short performance activities, students will strengthen their confidence, communication skills, and ability to interpret texts creatively — key competencies in both language learning and personal development.

This experience offers far more than a visit: it is an opportunity to inhabit a story, to feel the emotional resonance of theatre, and to understand how literature lives through performance. By stepping into Shakespeare’s world, students will not only deepen their appreciation for dramatic arts and the English language, but also develop empathy, cultural awareness, and the courage to express themselves.
