We are thrilled to announce that registration is now open for the upcoming Marine Biology Field Trip to the Maldives, organised in collaboration with the University of Padua.

🗓️ Duration: 8 days / 7 nights
🔬 Focus: Marine biology – hands-on fieldwork, observation, and research
💶 Estimated Cost: €2,800 – €3,000

Spaces are limited, and students will be selected by the Department of Science from among those who register. There will be two separate trips scheduled for October 2025.
This immersive educational experience will involve workshops and activities focusing on marine biology, biodiversity, ecology, natural resource management, and sustainability. Students with an interest in marine biology may also collect data for their Extended Essay (EE) or Internal Assessment (IA).
Additionally, this trip qualifies as a CAS experience.
Educational Activities:
- Scuba Diving:
Each student will participate in one 50-minute scuba dive, including coral reef and nursery observation, coral cleaning, and data collection (e.g., stem measurements).
Additional dives can be arranged during free time at an extra cost. - Snorkelling:
Two guided sessions are included:- One small group session (3 students per guide)
- One larger group session on a desert island with two guides (includes boat trip)
A night snorkelling session may be offered, depending on ocean conditions.
- Accommodation:
Students will stay at Villa Rosa Guest House, a five-star resort on Feridhoo Island offering:
- Three home-cooked meals daily
- Five bedrooms with queen-size beds, AC, private bathrooms, and mini gardens
- Daily room cleaning and towel changes every other day
- A short 10-minute walk to Bikini Beach
Supervision will be provided by Coral Restoration staff and school-appointed teachers to ensure student safety.
- Grouping & Dress Code:
Group assignments will aim for a balanced gender distribution. Please note: respectful attire is required in accordance with local customs. Western swimwear is only allowed at the resort and designated beaches. - Travel & Cost:
The estimated total cost, including flights and taxes, is €2,800-€3,000 per student.
