PTA Event for Parents – The Student Brain Under Pressure: Stress and Anxiety 1920 1080 School Office

Please join Sofia Nylander, Nutritional Therapist, for “The Student Brain Under Pressure: Stress and Anxiety” talk, exploring stress in modern school life and how nutrition and lifestyle habits can impact students’ wellbeing.

Why are so many students feeling anxious, exhausted or struggling to concentrate? In this new talk, Sofia Nylander, Nutritional Therapist, unpacks how modern-day stress affects anxiety, sleep, focus and digestion and what parents can do to support balance and resilience.

The presentation explores how the brain and gut communicate, why exam stress and constant pressure take a physical toll, and how hormones, gut health and sleep interact to shape behaviour and emotional balance. Sofia will also touch upon ADHD and anxiety, why some students are more sensitive to stress and how the gut–brain connection and nutrient depletion play a key role in restoring stability.

The session highlights the effects of caffeine, energy drinks and artificial sweeteners on the developing brain, and how small, realistic changes can make a difference. Parents will leave with a clearer understanding of how nutrition, biology and daily habits influence attention and stress tolerance, along with practical ways to help students through demanding school years.
