Dear PYP Families,
We’re very excited to share that we will be celebrating Global School Play Day on Friday, February 6th — a special day dedicated entirely to play, creativity and student choice.
Global School Play Day is all about giving children the time, space and freedom to play in ways that feel meaningful to them. Play is not just fun — it supports wellbeing, creativity, independence, problem-solving, and social connection. On this day, the focus is on child-led, screen-free, unstructured play, with adults there to supervise safety while letting the children take the lead.
Half-Day Celebration
Global School Play Day will be a half day.
- The morning will be calm and relaxed, with time in class for reading, social games, reflections and gentle activities.
- Students who have specialist subjects in the morning will still have their normal lessons.
- After lunch, the school will transition into student-led play, with children moving through different play zones until the end of the day.
Please note that school buses and after-school activities will run as normal.
A Day Designed by Students
Students will be involved in planning and organising games, play spaces and activities. The school will be transformed into various , offering opportunities for creativity, movement, imagination,and collaboration. Children will be able to choose how, where, and with whom they play.
Wear What You Love!
As this is truly their day, students are welcome to wear any comfortable clothes they choose. Fancy dress, sportswear, cosy clothes — anything that helps them feel relaxed and ready to play is absolutely welcome. We do ask that children avoid wearing their most fancy or delicate outfits, as the day will be full of active play and creative fun.
We’re really looking forward to a joyful, calm, and playful day that celebrates childhood, imagination and the importance of simply being able to play.
