A student-led conference is an opportunity for all PYP students (Honey Bees to PYP4) to reflect on their academic, social, and emotional goals and to celebrate their learning. It is a student-led celebration of their progress as a learner. All family members who would like to be present are invited to attend. Children will welcome their family member(s) into their classrooms to showcase their work in all areas of their learning.
New this year
EYU-Y4 Parents will also be able to book a 10-minute meeting with their Homeroom Teacher. This meeting will be facilitated by the student, and it will ensure you have a clear picture of successes and next steps for learning.
This year, we are also excited to share that the Y5 PYP Exhibition will be on the same day! This means that, as well as learning about your own child’s development, you will have an opportunity to explore our Y5 Students’ Exhibition and learn more about this cumulative, collaborative inquiry and how impactful it can be.
Please be sure you read through this information so you fully understand the process and role of the student, parents and teachers.
EYU-Y4 Students:
Note: Friday, May 22nd is NOT a regular school day. EYU to Y4 children will come to school ONLY with you and ONLY for the conference slot that you select (no school bus, no canteen, no supervision/sports/clubs). A sign-up sheet for the conference sessions will follow.
Y5 Students:
Y5 will have a regular day. As the Student Led Conference and PYPX are so similar, this year we have combined it. Students will present to their parents in the morning, have an opportunity to guide their parents through their PYPX process that includes their specialist subjects (Music, Visual Arts, PE, Tech and Italian), and enjoy explaining their exhibition to the rest of our community of learners. School buses, lunch and supervision will be provided. There will be no afterschool activities (sport). Please see more information in the email from the Students Office.
Preparing for the Student Led Conferences and PYPX are a tremendous amount of work for your child and the day itself is always exciting for our students, so we strongly encourage you to attend your child’s conference on Friday, May 22nd and visit the PYP exhibition. It will not be possible to schedule the Student Led Conferences on different days.
We hope you enjoy this opportunity to celebrate your child’s learning process and accomplishments!
