As we come to the end of a busy and joy-filled term, I would like to extend my warmest wishes to you and your families. This term has been full of energy, creativity and community spirit. Our students have already taken part in so many rich learning experiences, from the Winter Concert and the wonderful Rock Bottom performance, to Y5 Science Fairs, Colour Me Happy celebrations in the Busy Bees and parent workshops. Each of these events reflects the confidence, curiosity, and collaboration that make our PYP so special.

We are deeply proud of everything our students have accomplished so far, and we are excited for all the learning, inquiry, and new opportunities that await us next term.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As I begin my second year as Head of PYP at H-FARM International School, I would like to thank you for the warm welcome and strong support you shared throughout my first year. It was inspiring to watch our students flourish across so many areas — not only in academics, but also in their friendships, their creativity, and their sense of responsibility as members of our community.

This year, our shared focus continues to be on the Six Dimensions of Success, which guide us in supporting the whole child. We want our learners to grow emotionally, developing confidence, resilience, and happiness in who they are. We want them to experience learning success by engaging with inquiry that is meaningful, challenging, and joyful. Through community success, they learn to collaborate, care for others, and contribute positively to the world around them. Language success remains central in our school, helping children to express themselves confidently in English, but also continue to understand the importance of their home languages in how we connect across cultures. Academic readiness is built through strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and critical thinking skills, preparing them for future learning with confidence. And finally, social success is fostered in every classroom and playground interaction, where students learn inclusion, empathy, and the joy of being part of an international community.

One of the most rewarding parts of my first year was seeing how powerful the partnership between home and school can be. It is together that we create the conditions for our students to thrive. I encourage you once again to stay close to your child’s learning, ask questions, share stories, and celebrate progress.

I am excited to continue this journey with you, and I look forward to another year filled with growth, creativity, and success in all its dimensions

Warm regards,
Anthony Hamblin
Head of PYP

As we approach the end of this academic year, I want to take a moment to express how grateful I am for the incredible journey we’ve shared.
Our students have grown in so many ways, as thinkers, communicators, teammates, performers, scientists, readers, writers, and most importantly, as kind and curious human beings. Watching them discover new ideas, take action, build friendships, and express themselves with confidence has been a true privilege.
This growth wouldn’t be possible without the dedication, creativity, and care of our teaching team. I am deeply thankful for the passion they bring into the classroom each day, and the way they nurture every learner’s potential with such intention and heart.
As we head into the summer break, I wish you all time to rest, recharge, and enjoy each other’s company. I hope there are sunny days, new adventures, and plenty of opportunities to slow down. And of course, don’t forget to keep reading! Whether it’s a story at bedtime, a book under a tree, or a recipe in the kitchen, reading keeps our imaginations alive and our minds growing.
Thank you for your continued support, trust, and partnership. I look forward to what lies ahead, but for now, I wish you and your family a joyful and restful summer.

I hope you all had a fantastic holiday and were able to rest, relax and recharge, ready for our next chapter of learning!

During this short week, we discussed ‘Returning to Learning’. An opportunity for us to get back into routines, and to catch up with friends. We have welcomed a new student into school this year, there have been lots of discussions about the holidays, and students are happy to be back in school.

Just a few reminders about how to stay safe and keep our students learning:

Ensure students are kept safe on campus, we ask you to only collect PYP Students from the designated area, the Welcome Center.

Continue to let homeroom teachers know if you are not going to be in school by submitting attendance excusals on Toddle, this helps us plan for the day and specific group activities.

Continue to ensure that your child is demonstrating their self-management skills (one of our Approaches to Learning) by getting their school things ready for themselves. This should include them wearing a coat to school. We will get children outside in the playground as often as possible, so children must have suitable clothing to support this. (Coats, hats, scarves, gloves, boots etc)

Ensure any new items of clothing have clear name labels attached so that lost items can be reunited with their owner.

Continue to check Toddle together, and talk about learning

Read for 20 minutes every day. (This could be reading together or reading to each other and in English or your Home Language)

Have a great weekend ahead!

Anthony

During our Teacher in-service day on Monday, Literacy expert Dan Feigelson worked with our teachers on enhancing reading and writing in the classroom. Over this week, he has also been working with students with our teachers in an observation role, demonstrating a variety of new tools and strategies that our teachers can utilise in their classrooms. We are grateful to have had his expertise in the school this week, and I know the parents really enjoyed his workshop on Tuesday as well.

You will notice that we have begun to incorporate our daily educational visits into the School Office Notice. This is to aid us in streamlining how parents are communicated with, and ensure you know where to find the information you need. All trips and events mentioned in the SON are also added to the H-FARM Calendar – please add this to your own calendar.

Thank you to our Parent Class reps for filling out our meeting time survey. The clear choice was to meet every 2 months, on a Monday morning. So our next meeting will be Monday, December 16th, at 8:30am, the date will be added to the calendar.

I would like to thank parents for all their support during our first half term of learning. The first term is usually the most difficult, with students transitioning from a lower year, another school, or even another country. The community of learners that we have here at H-FARM is incredible, and although there is still a lot of learning to do (me included), I know that our community is on the right track. Last week, we hosted our first Parent Rep meeting, and it was good to hear not only those areas where we can further develop, but also those areas where we feel we are doing well.

As we work through some of these opportunities, it is worth mentioning the amazing work already carried out by our teachers, and I want to thank them as well. Our first half term has been busy with me learning how the school works, and the school has continued to grow and improve. Our teachers have begun new phonics instructions, additional language and mathematics diagnostic assessments, and still found time to build a healthy community of learners in the classrooms. Thank you teachers.

I hope you all have a fantastic week off, and please remember that you do not return to school until Tuesday 5th November, as teachers have a professional learning day dedicated to language comprehension with Dan Feigelson on Monday. See you on Tuesday 5th November.

The PYP is starting to get into full swing, with field trips, parent workshops and open mornings happening across the year levels. We ask that parents try to commit to attending our open days / celebrations of learning / events that may arise across the year, but we know this is not always possible. Please let us know if you can not attend and we can organise for a ‘cover parent’ for the event – this may be another teacher or an older student who the student knows.
As our pre-assessments are coming to an end, the teachers are using that data to inform the learning that happens in the classroom. Please continue to keep in contact with the Homeroom or Specialist teachers if you require any information, we are always happy to have conversations about your child’s learning!

Our PYP learners have had a fantastic start to the new school year. On Monday, our new learners got to know their teachers and their new school, and from Tuesday on, we welcomed everyone back.
This week we have been focusing on what it means to be a learner at H-FARM. This Learning to Learn is vital in creating life-long learners. In the classroom, we have collaborated on essential agreements of how we learn best and how we work together, we have been on PYP school tours to ensure we know where all our specialist classrooms and the toilets are, and we have learnt about what it means to be a good eater in the cafeteria. As next week we have rain forecast for most of the week, please ensure that your children have brought in their boots, complete with name, so they can continue to enjoy the outside.
