Dear Families,

We are thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for our students:
A Week in the Swiss Alps – Trek Switzerland 2026, a Nord Anglia Expedition Trip.

This unique summer experience will take place in the beautiful Swiss Alps, in Les Plans-sur-Bex, and is open to students from MYP3, MYP4, MYP5 e DP1 (aged 14+). Students will enjoy breathtaking landscapes, fresh alpine air and a challenging outdoor adventure, while building unforgettable memories with friends and meeting students from other Nord Anglia schools around the world.

Places and Participation

Places are limited to 20 students, and the trip will run only if a minimum of 8 participants is reached.
Due to organisational deadlines, registration will follow a first come, first served policy. We strongly recommend securing a place as soon as possible, as we expect spaces to fill quickly.

Please note that this is a physically demanding expedition, involving trekking in challenging Alpine terrain. Participants must have:

  • a good level of physical fitness;
  • willingness to train before the expedition;
  • appropriate equipment for safe mountain trekking.

This experience is designed for students who enjoy adventure and physical challenge.

Expedition Activity Highlights

The week begins in the village of Les Plans-sur-Bex, where students are welcomed into the Alpine environment through icebreaker activities such as a self-led walk or an evening treasure hunt, helping them get to know their fellow adventurers and quickly build a sense of team.

A full day is dedicated to skills training, during which students learn essential expedition skills including navigation, camp craft and outdoor cooking. This preparation is key to enabling them to confidently lead their own journey through challenging mountain terrain.

Over the following three days, students take part in a student-led trek from Les Martinets through mountain passes and along ridge lines. Supported by expert coaching, they develop leadership, decision-making and group-care skills while staying overnight in mountain huts or camps.

The programme also includes a high-altitude experience at Glacier 3000, reached by gondola. Here, students explore a glacial environment firsthand, observe the visible effects of climate change and take part in a range of shared Alpine activities designed to foster teamwork and a spirit of adventure.

Cultural discovery is an important part of the experience. A visit to the historic town of Gruyère allows students to learn about traditional Swiss chocolate and cheese production and to explore the Château de Gruyères.

The expedition concludes with focused leadership and team-building activities, followed by a final reflection session in which students evaluate how the skills they have developed can be applied at school and in their future lives. A special awards ceremony celebrates both the physical achievements and the personal growth demonstrated throughout the week.
