We know that is important for our parents to know what learning is happening in the classroom. With this in mind, there are multiple ways that we share what learning looks like. All of these will be on our Academic and portfolio application, Toddle.
Units of Inquiry – Medium-term planning
At the beginning of the units of inquiry, we will open up the units on Toddle for our parents to share what our medium-term plans and learning goals look like. You will see the Central Ideas, Lines of Inquiry, Specified Concepts and Learner Profile focus. This will give you a guide to the learning for the next few weeks of work. Sometimes, we may ask you not to share this information with the students, as they will find out about the learning during the course of the Units of Inquiry. As with all our learning, these are only plans, and the student inquiries may take a different direction.
Weekly Overviews – Short-term planning
Every week, our teachers will share a very brief description of what the learning looks like in English, Mathematics, Units of Inquiry, and Italian homework, if any. There may also be some notes reminding you of field trips or class happenings, and sometimes, optional activities to be done at home.
Portfolio – Evidence of oral and visual learning in the classroom
The portfolio is the evidence of oral and visual learning in the classroom and should be used in connection with the workbooks that come home regularly. It is only a snapshot of the learning, and documents the process, rather than the product, of learning.
