Boarding Life

Boarding Life 2000 1500 School Office PYP

Our boarders are now in full flow, taking an increasingly active role in shaping life in boarding. One of the most exciting aspects of this term has been seeing our boarders grow in independence, confidence and leadership, taking responsibility for their community and learning new skills along the way.

This week has seen the launch and development of a number of exciting student-led clubs and activities, including Chess club and Cooking club. It has been fantastic to see boarders stepping forward to organise activities, share their interests and bring other students together. These opportunities give students the chance not only to enjoy something they are passionate about, but also to develop valuable skills in organisation, communication, teamwork and leadership.

Leadership is also developing across our boarding community, with our new House Captains and House Gym Captains taking on important responsibilities and becoming positive role models for others. These roles give boarders the opportunity to make decisions, support their peers and contribute to making boarding a community that they can genuinely shape and be proud of.

We have also been delighted to see such a strong response to our Survival Skills and DofE programmes. It is fantastic to see so many boarders choosing to put down their technology, step away from screens and reconnect with more active, practical and outdoor experiences. Learning survival skills, navigating the outdoors and taking on the challenges of the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award are all fantastic ways for our students to develop resilience, independence, teamwork and self-confidence.

A special mention must go to Sehrish, one of our Case House Parents, for her leadership in developing our outdoor education programme. Her enthusiasm and commitment are helping to create more opportunities for boarders to get outside, challenge themselves and develop practical skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

And this is just the beginning. We are looking forward to seeing many more student-led clubs, leadership opportunities and outdoor initiatives develop in the weeks ahead. Our aim is for boarding to be a place where students don’t simply take part — they take responsibility, learn new skills, lead others and help shape the community around them.

Lastly both Case and Tars House have finished their house logo competition, I look forward to sharing the final designs next week.
